Create Beautiful Designs

Slate is a natural stone material that comes in gray, rust, green and a combination of these called Peacock.  Slate creates a unique, rustic look that is durable and stylish.  In the photo above, slate is installed in the hallway of a cabin and complimented the woodwork beautifully.  Slate can be used indoor or outdoor.  It is installed just like other tile materials and typically grouted with a hue of gray.  If you are going for rustic with an elegant touch,  adding  decorative copper pieces is an excellent way to compliment slate.  Slate is a softer material and therefore must be handled with care.

Slate for the floor

In the picture below, slate is used throughout this home.  They had several large dogs and wanted the fur clean up to be as simple as possible.  Slate is used in the bathroom and again complements the wooden walls of this rustic cabin.

Slate for the kitchen

Slate is used for the kitchen floor as well as backsplash areas.    If you like the stone look, slate is an inexpensive alternative.  In addition, slate adds more color and richness to a room than a lot of other real stone tiles.

Slate for the shower

Slate is not typically used on shower walls.  However, using  slate flower accent pieces for the stripe in the shower gives it a nice decorative finish (see photo below).

Slate for other areas

Slate is popular for outdoor patio floors,  walls and on table tops.   Slate typically comes in 12x12 tiles and can be cut to make unique borders or patterns.
